Install Camshafts

- Fit camshafts -2-

- 1.1 Insert camshafts -2- into the camshaft bearing frame.
Make sure that the gaps on the plain compression rings -5- are facing up or down, never to the side.
Make sure that the plain bearing -1- is fitted as far as it will go against the cylinder head cover.
Make sure that the thrust washer -6- is inserted.
Positioning camshafts
- Make sure that each camshaft bearing cover -4-
is fitted with two tensioning sleeves -3-
.

- Position camshaft bearing covers -1 to 4-

- 3.1 Position camshaft bearing covers -1 to 4-
according to the marking > Identification of camshaft bearing covers
Make sure that the tensioning sleeves engage in the bores of the cylinder head cover.

- 3.1 Position camshaft bearing covers -1 to 4-

- Fit camshaft bearing covers -1 to 4-

- 4.1 Replace camshaft bearing cover screws -Arrows- .
- 4.2 Fit new camshaft bearing cover screws -Arrows- and tighten to > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) .

- Fit tool set > T40331 - camshaft clamp

Information
The camshaft clamp must be easy to insert and must not be fitted using a striking tool.
- 5.1 Align camshafts -1- and insert T40331/1, 4/and/5 with the inscription "A" facing away from the engine.
- 5.2 T40331/1,/4 and/5 must be secured using T40331/9 .
- 5.3 T40331/9 must be screwed in by hand.
- 5.4 Tighten screws on the camshaft clamps to 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) .
