Checking Engine Oil Pressure

Danger of scalding
→ Let the fluid cool down.

→ Wear personal protective gear.

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials

Danger of fire or explosion
→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.

→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.

→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

→ Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.

→ Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.

Information

Engine oil pressure may be too low for a number of reasons:
Oil is diluted.
Oil pump is faulty.
Too much bearing clearance.
Oil level is too low.
Oil pressure-regulating valve is faulty.
Incorrect oil has been used. Only use oil that has been approved by Porsche for the measurement.

Test conditions for checking engine oil pressure

Correct engine-oil level
Engine oil temperature approx. 80°C

> V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester must be screwed onto the bore on the oil-pressure sender. Secure test hose out of the way.
Screw oil-pressure sender into > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester and insert plug connection.
Start the engine.
Check engine oil pressure.
- Engine oil pressure at idle speed: > Overpressure 0.9 bar
- Engine oil pressure at 2, 000 rpm: > Overpressure 1.3 bar
Disconnect plug connection on the oil-pressure sender and unscrew oil-pressure sender from the > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester .
Loosen adapter and remove > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester .
