Removing Roof Assembly

  • Danger of cuts 
  • Risk of eye injuries 

    → Wear personal protective gear.

    → Always shut off power supply when replacing cutting knife.

The roof assembly cannot be removed without damaging it.

Cut carefully. Do not damage the paintwork, windscreen or panoramic roof glass panel.

Information 

Remove washers.

  1. Loosen the roof assembly.

    Nuts on roof assembly

    Information 

    The cap nut on the rear roof assembly protects the airbag from being pushed in the event of a crash and must therefore always be re-installed.

    1. 1.1 Unscrew cap nuts -1-  .
    2. 1.2 Unscrew nuts -2-  .
  2. Mask the roof pillar and rear panoramic roof glass panel using adhesive tape -1-  .

  3. Cover the interior of the vehicle.
  4. Pierce adhesive bead on the left roof edge using a scratch awl -1-  and guide cutting cord into the interior of the vehicle -arrow-  .

  5. Cut adhesive bead at the front using > VAS 861 001A - Window removal set  > Adhesive bead at the front

  6. Cut adhesive bead on both sides using > VAS 861 001A - Window removal set  > Adhesive bead at the sides

  7. Cut rear adhesive bead.

    1. 7.1 Pierce adhesive bead on the rear roof assembly at the left using a scratch awl -1-  and guide cutting cord into the interior of the vehicle.
    2. 7.2 Cut adhesive bead at the rear using > VAS 861 001A - Window removal set  .
  8. Cut adhesive bead at the rear corner on both sides using > VAS 861 001A - Window removal set  > Adhesive bead at rear corner

  9. Remove roof assembly with the help of another person.
