Removing Evaporator
- Danger of freezing
→ Avoid contact with refrigerant.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Observe the safety regulations for working on air-conditioned vehicles and handling refrigerant.
→ Observe the safety regulations for extraction and filling systems.
→ Observe the instructions for repairing air-conditioning systems and storing spare parts.
Information
Before re-installing the component, check the O-rings on the refrigerant lines for damage and replace them if necessary.
The O-rings on the refrigerant lines must be coated with refrigerant oil.
All refrigerant lines and connections must be closed off using suitable stoppers during removal.
Stoppers for lines and connections must not be opened until shortly before installation.
- Have suitable stoppers ready for closing off the line connections.
- Loosen evaporator holder -3-
.
- 2.1 Unscrew screws -2- .
- 2.2 Screw off nut -1- .
- 2.3 Suspend evaporator holder -3- at the side.
Evaporator holder
- Remove refrigerant lines -3-4-
.
- 3.1 Unscrew screws -1-2- .
- 3.2 Disconnect line connections and close off lines using stoppers.
- 3.3 Move refrigerant lines -3-4- aside.
Refrigerant lines
- Remove coolant hoses -1-2-
.
- 4.1 Loosen spring band clamps -3-4- using > VAS 6930 - Spring Band Clamp Pliers and pull them off the adapter on the evaporator.
- 4.2 Pull off coolant hoses -1-2- and remove evaporator.
- 4.3 Close off connections with stoppers.

- Remove evaporator -arrow-
.
- 5.1 Unscrew screws securing evaporator -1- to holder.
- 5.2 Remove evaporator -arrow- from the holder.
