Installing Brake Shoes

Remove tie-wrap -arrow- on actuator for EPB.

Removing tie-wraps

Information

Align the entire unit in the middle.
Fit brake shoes with adjustment device and lower tension spring -4- .
Install compression spring -3- and upper tension spring -4- .
WARNING:
Preloaded or pressurized components
- Risk of injury (e.g. crushing or bruising) when removing and installing springs.
  → Do not reach into the danger area.
  
  → Relieve the tension on components before starting work.
  
  → Secure components to prevent them from loosening suddenly.
  
  → Wear protective gloves and goggles.
  
  → Be very careful when working on the brake system.
1. 3.1 Engage upper tension spring -4- .
2. 3.2 Install compression springs -3- .

Checking that compression spring is fitted securely
1. 4.1 Disconnect electric plug connection on the speed sensor.
2. 4.2 Using a pocket lamp, check that the compression spring -arrow- is engaged.
3. 4.3 Plug in electric plug connection on the speed sensor.
Illuminate the cut-out behind the brake disc using a pocket lamp and check that the compression spring -arrow- is engaged.
