Disassembling Heater

Information 

  1. Unscrew screws -8-  and lift up cover for control unit -10-  .
  2. Release clip -9-  at the bottom, push it up and out and remove cover for control unit -10-  .
  3. Unscrew screws -3-  and carefully remove cover for combustion air blower -4-  from the fuel connection for the fuel evaporator -27-  .
  4. Disconnect plug connection -7-  on the heater control unit -6-  .
  5. Unscrew screws -11-  and remove together with retaining clips -12-  and -13-  .
  6. Carefully pull out overheating sensor -14-  and surface sensor -15-  .
  7. Remove control unit -6-  with wiring harness.
  8. Unscrew screws -1-  and remove cover on electric motor -2-  .
  9. Remove combustion air blower -5-  .
    1. 9.1 Release both plug contacts for the combustion air blower from connector housing -7-  using release tool VAS 1978/35-42  (from the > VAS 1978/35-33 - Release Tool Set  ).
    2. 9.2 Pull fuel cut-off switch -33-  with the graphite sleeve and the sleeve on the wiring harness out of the groove on the combustion air housing.
  10. Release both plug contacts for the fuel cut-off switch -33-  from connector housing -7-  using release tool VAS 1978/35-42  (from the > VAS 1978/35-33 - Release Tool Set  ).
  11. Remove glow spark plug -19-  .
    1. 11.1 Release both plug contacts for the glow spark plug from connector housing -7-  using release tool VAS 1978/18  (from the > VAS 1978/35-33 - Release Tool Set  ).
    2. 11.2 Pull glow spark plug out of the combustion chamber insert -24-  .
  12. Remove seal -25-  and replace during installation.
  13. Remove combustion chamber insert -24-  from housing with heat exchanger -20-  .
    1. 13.1 Release both plug contacts for the combustion chamber insert from connector housing -7-  using release tool VAS 1978/35-42  (from the > VAS 1978/35-33 - Release Tool Set  ).
    2. 13.2 Remove combustion chamber insert.
    3. 13.3 Remove seal -23-  and replace during installation.
