Installing Seal For Sliding Roof

Information 

The sliding roof seal (front roof assembly) and vehicle must be at room temperature for installation.

Information 

Pull protective film off the adhesive tape in sections only.

1. Install seal for sliding roof.

   Installing seal for sliding roof

   1. 1.1 Position and fit new sliding roof seal -1-  on the sliding-roof panel.
      1. 1.1.1 Fit the seal flush with the inner edge. -arrow- 
      2. 1.1.2 Align the seal in the rear cut-out with the gap dimension -X-  > Adjustment value 5 mm 
   2. 1.2 Pull off protective film and press seal onto the sliding roof -1-  .
2. Prepare special tool - press-on roller.

   Preparing special tool

   1. 2.1 Fit torque wrench -2-  > V.A.G 1783 - Torque wrench, 2-10 Nm (1.5-7.5 ftlb.)  with the arrow -1-  pointing downwards onto the special tool -3-  > 9886/1 - Press-on roller  .
   2. 2.2 Set a torque of > Torque 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)  .
3. Press on seal -1-  using press-on roller -3-  .

Pressing on seal

1. 3.1 Hold special tool > 9886/1 - Press-on roller  at the outer handles and press it firmly onto the seal until the torque wrench is released. The force of the special tool must be applied straight onto the seal -arrows-  . Maintain this pressure for the entire press-on procedure.
2. 3.2 Press the seal onto the panel by rolling several times over the bonding area using the special tool > 9886/1 - Press-on roller  .
