WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
WARNING:
Mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic press
- Risk of squashing
→ Read specific safety information for the press.
→ Check that the press is working perfectly before use, particularly the safety components.
Pull the bearing out and in on a workbench or a suitable workstation.
Get another person to help you to pull the bearing out and in!
- Spay the bearing seat on the wheel bearing housing with penetrating lubricant and leave it to take effect.
- Prepare tools.
- > VAS 6178 - Hydraulic cylinder
- > VAS 6179 - Foot pump
- > VAS 6179/1- Pressure gauge with connecting line
- Spindle and M12 spindle nut from > T10254 - assembly tool
- 2.1 Connect hydraulic cylinder to foot pump and pressure gauge/connecting line and attach compressed air supply.
- > T90017 - Pressure pieces must be ready.
- Position tools as shown for pulling out the bearing on the wheel bearing housing and bearing.
Using tools for pulling out bearing
1 Wheel bearing housing 2 > VAS 6178 - Hydraulic cylinder 3 Sleeve from set of > T90017 - pressure pieces 4 Pressure piece from set of > T90017 - pressure pieces 5 M12 spindle nut from > T10254 - assembly tool 6 M12 threaded spindle from > T10254 - assembly tool - Pull the bearing out slowly.
- 5.1 Clean the bearing seat and check for damage (cracks, scoring).
- 5.2 Replace the wheel bearing housing if there are signs of damage.
- Grease the bearing seat lightly with Kluber Syntheso Glep, for example.
- Pull in new bearing as shown using > VAS 6178 - hydraulic cylinder
and set of > T90017 - pressure pieces
.
Using tools for pulling in bearing
1 Wheel bearing housing 2 > VAS 6178 - Hydraulic cylinder 3 Sleeve from set of > T90017 - pressure pieces 4 New bearing (Installation direction => Groove on the pressure piece side) 5 Pressure piece from set of > T90017 - pressure pieces 6 M12 spindle nut from > T10254 - assembly tool 7 M12 threaded spindle from > T10254 - assembly tool - Carefully pull new bearing in fully (edge in bearing seat) using setting 1 on
the hydraulic cylinder.
Do not exceed the maximum pull-in force of 50 kN! => Check reading on the pressure gauge!
- Remove tools.
