Removing Electric Air-Conditioning Compressor

WARNING: Refrigerant 
  • Danger of freezing 

    → Avoid contact with refrigerant.

    → Wear personal protective gear.

    → Observe the safety regulations for working on air-conditioned vehicles and handling refrigerant.

    → Observe the safety regulations for extraction and filling systems.

    → Observe the instructions for repairing air-conditioning systems and storing spare parts.

Information 

Before re-installing the component, replace the O-rings on the refrigerant lines.

Coat O-rings on the refrigerant lines with refrigerant oil SP-A2.

Close off all lines and connections using suitable stoppers during removal.

Do not open the stoppers for the lines and connections until shortly before installation.

  1. Unscrew one nut and one screw from protective plate on the air-conditioning compressor and remove protective plate.
  2. Unscrew screw on the low-pressure line on the air-conditioning compressor and pull off low-pressure line.
    1. 2.1 Close off connection on the air-conditioning compressor and at the refrigerant lines using suitable stoppers.
  3. Unscrew screws -3-  from the air-conditioning compressor -4-  at the bracket (illustration shows the Panamera S Hybrid as an example).

  4. Turn the air-conditioning compressor as far as required to the side until the screw -1-  for the high-pressure line -2-  on the air-conditioning compressor and the high-voltage line connector are accessible (illustration shows the Panamera S Hybrid as an example).

  5. Unscrew screw -5-  from high-voltage line holder -6-  on the air-conditioning compressor -4-  (illustration shows the Panamera S Hybrid as an example).

  6. Disconnect electric plug connection (12-volt vehicle electrical system) on the air-conditioning compressor.
  7. Release high-voltage plug connection on the air-conditioning compressor and remove high-voltage line.

    Releasing high-voltage connector

    1. 7.1 Press red release tab -a-  .
    2. 7.2 Pull orange tab in direction of arrow until you feel a certain amount of resistance -arrow A-  .
    3. 7.3 Release black tab -b-  and pull off connector -arrow B-  .
  8. Disconnect electric plug connection from pressure sensor on the high-pressure line.
  9. Unscrew screw -1-  for high-pressure line -2-  on the air-conditioning compressor and remove high-pressure line (this was already loosened on the condenser when removing the engine).
    1. 9.1 Close off connection on the air-conditioning compressor and at the refrigerant lines using suitable stoppers.

  10. Guide out air-conditioning compressor to the side.
