Checking Engine-Oil Level Using Oil Dipstick

Information 

In general, check engine oil level in the oil level gauge in the instrument cluster. If no oil level display is available, check with > T40178B - oil level gauge tester  .

Information 

Prerequisites for checking the engine oil level:

• Vehicle is level 
• Engine at operating temperature 
• Start the engine and leave it running at idle speed for one minute, then stop it 
• Check the engine oil level when the engine has been stopped for two minutes 

  Procedure for the Panamera S Diesel (4.0-litre V8 Diesel):

Using the special tools for V8 Diesel

1. > T40178B - Oil gauge tester-1-  must be adjusted. Read the relevant values from the table.

   Oil gauge tester

   1	> T40178B - Oil gauge tester
   2	Scale for adjusting ring
   3	Knurled screw
   4	Adjusting ring
   5	Scale for oil level

2. Position adjusting ring -2-  according to the value in the table.

   The adjustment value is read off on the lower end of the adjusting ring -4-  !

3. Checking engine-oil level.
   1. 3.1 Remove stopper from guide for oil dipstick using > 3438 - hook  .
   2. 3.2 > T40178B - Oil gauge tester  must be pushed as far as it will go (setting ring) into the oil dipstick guide, then pull it out again.
   3. 3.3 Read off the engine-oil level on the oil level scale.

4. Insert stopper into the oil dipstick guide.
