Installing Rear Window

CAUTION: Danger of material damage if specified curing time of adhesive is not observed! In order to ensure that the bonded joint is sufficiently strong, the following boundary conditions must be adhered to:

The vehicle must not be used until the curing time has elapsed .
Curing time: 2 hours
Temperature: at least 10°C
Fixing time: approx. 1 hour

Application time

The processing time of the adhesive at room temperature (23°C) is: 10 min. The adhesive must be applied and the component must be joined within this time .
To ensure that the mixture is complete, apply a bead of fresh adhesive that is approx. 10-20 cm long to a piece of cardboard before using it .
Also apply a bead of adhesive approx. 10 cm long to a solid surface to test it .
An adhesive set produces a bead of 6 m of adhesive. Have several adhesive sets ready if necessary .

When applying adhesive, make sure that the adhesive bead overlaps by approx. 30 mm at the beginning and at the end .

Information

Check stop bits .
Replace damaged or missing stop bits .

Prepare 2-component adhesive for processing.
Using a bonding gun -A- , apply 2-component adhesive to the rear window along the preliminary coat or on the primer in the form of a triangular bead measuring -X = 15 mm- .

- The help of another person is required!
Attach > V.A.G 1344 - suction lifter to the rear window and insert the rear window into the window aperture. Fit the rear window at the upper edge -Arrow A- and position it in the lower edge -Arrow B- .

Inserting rear window
Adjust gap dimensions of the rear window.
> WM, 5X00IN GAP DIMENSION
1. 4.1 Adjust gap dimension of rear window with respect to the rear lid (H1) > Gap dimension 2.5 mm +/- 1 mm
2. 4.2 Adjust gap dimension of rear window with respect to the rear lid (H2) > Gap dimension - 1 mm + 0.8 mm - 1 mm
3. 4.3 Adjust gap dimension of rear window with respect to the rear lid (H3) > Gap dimension 2.5 mm +/- 0.5 mm
4. 4.4 Adjust gap dimension of rear window with respect to the rear lid (H4) > Gap dimension - 2.1 mm + 0.8 mm - 1 mm
5. 4.5 Adjust gap dimension of rear window with respect to the rear spoiler (H5) > Gap dimension 3.5 mm + 1.5 mm - 0.5 mm
6. 4.6 Adjust gap dimension of rear window with respect to the rear spoiler (H6) > Gap dimension - 2.5 mm +/- 1.5 mm
Secure the upper edge of the rear window with adhesive tape -1- to prevent it from slipping.

Securing rear window
Remove any adhesive that has oozed out immediately and clean the affected visible areas using cleaning solution -H1- .
