Draining And Filling Refrigerant R1234YF: Notes
WARNING:
Refrigerant
- Danger of freezing
→ Avoid contact with refrigerant.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Observe the safety regulations for working on air-conditioned vehicles and handling refrigerant.
→ Observe the safety regulations for extraction and filling systems.
→ Observe the instructions for repairing air-conditioning systems and storing spare parts.
NOTIFICATION
Excessively high pressure in refrigerant circuit
- Risk of damage to air-conditioning compressor
→ Do not allow low-pressure gauge to go above 3 bar.
Information
- On air-conditioning service equipment with a transparent oil separator, read off and take note of the oil level before removing refrigerant.
- Do not carry out this step on empty air-conditioning systems (pressure gauge approx. 0 bar) because if you do, air will get into the refrigerant bottle.
- If the vehicle is cold, it may be necessary to repeat the suction procedure until all refrigerant has been removed from the air-conditioning system. This step is carried out automatically with some units.
- Fit filling adapter -1-
.
Service connections for refrigerant
- 1.1 Screw off protection caps on the filling valves.
- 1.2 Extract any refrigerant remaining in the filling lines.
- 1.3 Connect filling adapter -1- to the high-pressure and low-pressure filling lines.
- 1.4 Leave the engine running for a short time with the air conditioning on and open the valves on the filling adapter -1- .
Information
- Instructions in the operating instructions for the air-conditioning servicing equipment take precedence. The procedure described here may differ from the description provided by the respective air-conditioning servicing equipment manufacturer.
- Extract refrigerant using air conditioning service equipment.
- 2.1 Wait for approx. 2 minutes after the air conditioning service equipment has switched itself off. If the pressure gauge reading rises above 0 bar, repeat the extraction process.
- 2.2 Drain the extracted refrigerant oil into a measuring cup on the air conditioning service equipment and determine the volume.
