Cleaning ATF (Line And Cooler)

WARNING: Working with ATF
  • Possible danger of injury or damage (e.g. swollen hoses, skin irritation, danger of slipping, etc.) 

    → Before lines are opened, place a cloth underneath them!

    → Components that come into contact with ATF must be cleaned IMMEDIATELY with water!

    → Take appropriate protective measures (protective clothing, safety goggles, oil binding material) → Collect emerging ATF!

WARNING: Hot fluid 
  • Danger of scalding 

    → Let the fluid cool down.

    → Wear personal protective gear.

NOTE: Dirt and contamination 
  • Risk of damage to units or components 

    → Protect components from dirt and contamination

    → Clean or replace dirty components.

  1. Remove oil filter housing -1- 
    1. 1.1  Loosen screws on oil filter housing -2-  .
    2. 1.2  Loosen screw for line at oil filter housing -3-. 
    3. 1.3  Guide out oil filter housing -1-  .
    4. 1.4  Pull ATF oil pipes -5-  and sealing rings -6-  out of the oil filter housing and replace them.
    5. 1.5  Replace sealing ring -4-. 
  2. Position used oil collection container under connection point.

  3. Blow out and flush the ATF line.
    1. 3.1  Blow out ATF line and ATF cooler at the line opening using compressed air (max. 10 bar) -2-. 
    2. 3.2  Fill > VAS 6563 - transmission fluid filler pump set  . Porsche set  with two litres of new ATF and connect to the line opening -2-. 
    3. 3.3  Flush ATF line and cooler at the line opening -2-  using two litres of new ATF.

  4. Install oil filter housing.
    1. 4.1  Press oil pipes -5-  sealing rings -6-  as far as they will go into the oil filter housing.
    2. 4.2  Insert oil filter housing -1-. 
    3. 4.3  Insert ATF line into the oil filter housing as far as it will go by hand, then screw it on.
    4. 4.4  Tighten screws on oil filter housing

      > Tightening - torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.) 

    5. 4.5  Tighten screw for line on oil-filter housing fusing > VAS 6928 - socket set. 39-piece  and > T10384- ratchet ring wrench a/f 13  .

      > Tightening torque 20  (15 ftlb.) Nm
