Removing Turbocharger

Information
The procedure for removal is described for one side as an example. The procedure for the other side is practically identical.
- Remove vacuum hose -1-
and release and disconnect electric plug connection -2-
.
Turbocharger connections
- Disconnect oil supply line -1-
.
Oil supply line (right turbocharger)
- 2.1 Unscrew screw on oil feed line -2- .
- 2.2 Remove oil feed line -1- .
- 2.3 Collect emerging oil using suitable aids and close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
- Disconnect coolant lines -1 and 2-
on the turbocharger.

- 3.1 Unscrew screws -3- .
- 3.2 Disconnect coolant return line -1- .
- 3.3 Disconnect coolant supply line -2- .
- 3.4 Collect emerging coolant using suitable aids and close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
- Loosen V-band clamp -1-

- 4.1 Loosen screw -2- and release V-band clamp -1- .
- 4.2 Carefully loosen V-band clamp -1- from the turbocharger/catalytic converter flange using a hammer and wedge.
- Loosen turbocharger -1-

Threaded joint for turbocharger (right)
- 5.1 Unscrew nuts and studs -2 and 3- .
Information
When removing the turbocharger, the oil return line will be damaged and must always be replaced following removal.
- Remove turbocharger -1-
.
Tank vent line on turbocharger
- 6.1 Lift up turbocharger -1- until screw for active carbon filter line -2- is accessible.
- 6.2 Unscrew screw for active carbon filter line -2- .
- 6.3 Remove active carbon filter -3- and close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
- 6.4 Remove turbocharger -1- together with oil return line.
