Removing Fuel Collection Pipe

NOTIFICATION 

Incorrect handling of pipe and line connections 

• Risk of damage to components 
• Leaks 
  1. → Do not put too much press ire on pipe and line connections.
  2. → Always counter the lines when loosening and fastening them.

Information 

• The ignition must be switched off when working on the fuel system. 
• Soak up escaping fuel using suitable aids. 
• Cloths and other items that have absorbed fuel must be disposed of according to the applicable national laws. 
• The fuel system must be depressurised before starting work on it. 
• Only work on the fuel system in well-ventilated rooms. 
• Any seals that were removed must always be replaced.

The procedure for removing and installing is described for one side as an example. The procedure for the other side is almost identical.

1. Loosen fuel line (high-pressure pump to rail) -1-  .

   Fuel line (high-pressure pump to rail)

   1. 1.1  Unscrew union nut -2-  on fuel collection pipe.
   2. 1.2 Only at the right on high-pressure pump to rail: 

      Unscrew union nut -3-  on high-pressure pump.

   3. 1.3  Press fuel line (high-pressure pump to rail) -1-  aside slightly.
2. Remove sound absorber -1-  .
