Setting Flow-Form Rivets

We recommend that you use punch D19 with thread. Screw punch D19 securely in the piston rod using the supplied wrench set.

Adapt the pressure setting on the > VAS 6790 - Compact Booster  to the existing plate thicknesses of the connection points:

The pressed-out or pulled-out punch rivets and drilled-out penetrated joints can be replaced by flow-form rivets during repairs if a low joint height is also required. Contrary to the standard procedure, all riveted joints are also bonded.

  1. Straighten the flanges at the rivet point separately on both sheetmetal panels using > VAS 6790 - Compact Booster  and punch and bottom die pair -D17 + D17-  from > VAS 6790/2 - Supplementary Riveting Set  .

  2. Punch and stamp holes for flow-form rivets through both sheetmetal panels using > VAS 6790 - Compact Booster  and punch and bottom die pair -D18 or D19 with D20-  from > VAS 6790/65 - Rivet inserts  .

  3. Set and press in flow-form rivets using > VAS 6790 - Compact Booster  and punch and bottom die pair -D21 + S9-  from > VAS 6790/65 - Rivet inserts  .
