Assembling Rear Lid

Information

The number of fastening screws, fixing clips, plug connections, holders and trim panels can vary depending on equipment.
The illustrations for removing and installing the drive mechanism are shown only on one equipment variant and may differ from the actual equipment variant.
Some steps must be carried out automatically.
Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle.

Only for replacing rear lid:
Position bracket for rear spoiler -1- and rivet it to the rear lid using blind rivets, starting from the centre outwards using > V.A.G 1765C - pop rivet nut pliers .

Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:
Tighten screws on holder for gas-filled shock absorber to > Tightening torque 10 (7.5 ftlb.) Nm .

Tighten screws on tailgate hinge to > Tightening torque 10 (7.5 ftlb.) Nm .

Tighten screws on adjusting element to > Tightening torque 8 (6 ftlb.) Nm .

Tighten screws on guide wedge to > Tightening torque 6 (4.5 ftlb.) Nm .

Tighten screws on ParkAssist buzzer > Tightening torque 1.5 (1 ftlb.) Nm .
