Removing Rear Panel

CAUTION: Incorrect handling of gas-filled shock absorbers
  • Gas-filled shock absorbers can burst
  • Risk of eye injuries
  • Risk of bruising

→ Gas-filled shock absorbers must be in idle state before removal.
→ Open the lid.
→ Secure the lid to prevent it from closing accidentally following removal of the gas-filled shock absorbers.
→ Do not use force to open the gas-filled shock absorbers because of their high internal pressure.

Information 

Use a marking pen to mark the position of accessories with respect to each other before removal in order to reduce the amount of adjustment work required for gaps and joints.

  1. A second person should hold the rear lid to prevent it from closing accidentally.
  2. Only for vehicles with Power Lift Tailgate: 

    Remove actuating cylinder for rear lid at the top of the rear lid.

  3. Only for vehicles without Power Lift Tailgate: 

    Remove gas-filled shock absorber for rear lid at the top of the rear lid.

  4. Unscrew screws -1-  on lid hinges.

  5. Remove rear lid.
