Removing Front Side Member

Information 

Loosen connection points on one side only. Do not damage the sheet-metal panel underneath.

Information 

Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.

1. Drill out spotwelds using > VAS 882 001 - spotweld remover  .

2. Mark and make cut.

3. Remove wheel housing extension.
4. Drill out spotwelds using > VAS 882 001 - spotweld remover  .

   1. 4.1  Drill out spotwelds -LHD vehicle -  from outside.
   2. 4.2  Drill out spotwelds -RHD vehicle -  from the inside.
   3. 4.3  Remove floorpan.
5. Heat bonding areas using > V.A.G 1416 - hot-air blower.

6. Drill out spotwelds.

7. Roughly cut out reinforcements and remove them.

8. Mark and make a rough cut -Arrows-  on the longitudinal member.

9. Drill out spotwelds using > VAS 882 001 - spotweld remover  .

   1. 9.1  Drill out spotwelds -RHD vehicle -  through two plate thicknesses using a drill bit with a diameter of > Diameter 6.5 mm  .
10. Drill out spotwelds through two plate thicknesses using a drill bit with a diameter of > Diameter 6.5 mm

11. Heat the marked bonding areas using > V.A.G 1416 - hot-air blower  .
