Removing Longitudinal Member For Wheel Housing Upper Section

  1. Remove wing bracket.

    Wing bracket

    Information 

    Loosen connection points on one side only. Do not damage the sheet-metal panel underneath.

    1. 1.1  Drill out spotwelds using > VAS 882 001 - spot-weld breaker. 
    2. 1.2  Grind down welded seams -1-  .
  2. Loosen the hidden weld point.

    Notch

    1. 2.1  Cut out notch -LHD vehicle -. 

      Information 

      Loosen connection points on one side only. Do not damage the sheet-metal panel underneath.

    2. 2.2  Drill out spot-weld using > VAS 882 001 - spot-weld remover  .
  3. Remove reinforcements.

    Reinforcements

    Information 

    Loosen connection points on one side only. Do not damage the sheet-metal panel underneath.

    1. 3.1  Drill out spotwelds using > VAS 882 001 - spotweld remover. 
    2. 3.2  Make rough cuts -1-  along the A-pillar -Arrows-  .

      Information 

      Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.

    3. 3.3  Mark and make cut -2-  . > Distance 80 mm 
    4. 3.4  Grind down welded seam -LHD vehicle -. 
  4. Heat bonding areas using > V.A.G 1416 - hot-air blower. 
  5. Remove reinforcements.

    Reinforcements

  6. Remove remaining piece of upper reinforcement -1-  .

    Remaining piece

    1. 6.1  Drill out spotwelds using > VAS 882 001 - spot-weld breaker. 
  7. Remove longitudinal member for wheel housing upper section.

    Side member for wheel housing upper section

    1. 7.1  Drill out spotwelds using > VAS 882 001 - spot-weld breaker  .
    2. 7.2  Grind down welded seams -Arrows-  .
    3. 7.3  Grind down spotwelds -LHD vehicle -  from the inside.
  8. Heat bonding surfaces using > V.A.G 1416 - hot-air blower. 
  9. Remove longitudinal member for wheel housing upper section.
