Installing Longitudinal Member For Wheel Housing Upper Section

Information 

• Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive. 
• The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed. 
• Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available. 

1. Install longitudinal member for wheel housing upper section and check that it fits perfectly. Check gap dimensions.

   > 5X00IN GAP DIMENSIONS

   > 5X00IN21 WORKING WITH BODY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE PAH.071.781.00

   Connection areas of body

   Orange	Resistance spot-welding
   Green	Resistance spot-welding + bonding
   Red	Plug-welding/apply a full weld using inert gas without bonding

   1. 1.1  Apply adhesive to the marked areas. > Application depth 3.0 mm 
2. Resistance spot-weld longitudinal member for wheel housing upper section.

   Side member for wheel housing upper section

   1. 2.1  Apply a full weld to the area -Arrows-  using inert gas.
3. Install reinforcements.

   Adhesive

   1. 3.1  Apply adhesive to the marked areas.

      > 5X00IN21 WORKING WITH BODY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE PAH.071.781.00

4. Resistance spot-weld the reinforcement.

   Reinforcements

   1. 4.1  Apply a full weld to the area -A and B-  using inert gas.
   2. 4.2  Stitch-weld area -Item C -  using inert gas.
5. Perform resistance spot welding. Do not weld the notch again.

   1. 6.1  Resistance spot-weld the wing.
   2. 6.2  Apply a full weld to areas -1-  using inert gas.
