Removing A-Pillar Reinforcement

Information 

Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.

1. Remove side member closing element.

   Information 

   Loosen connection points on one side only. Do not damage the sheet-metal panel underneath.

   1. 1.1  Drill out spotwelds -LHD vehicle -  and -RHD vehicle -  > VAS 882 001 - spot-weld breaker  .
   2. 1.2  Grind down welded seams

2. Mark and make a rough cut

   Information 

   Loosen connection points on one side only. Do not damage the sheet-metal panel underneath.

   1. 2.1  Drill out marked spotwelds using > VAS 882 001 - spot-weld breaker  .

   2. 2.2  Drill out spotwelds -RHD vehicle -  and -Item C-  through the openings.
3. Drill out marked spotwelds using > VAS 882 001 - spot-weld breaker  .
   1. 3.1  Grind down welded seams -Arrows-  .

4. Heat bonding areas using > V.A.G 1416 - hot-air blower  .

6. Remove A-pillar reinforcement.
7. Remove remaining piece.
   1. 7.1  Drill out spotwelds using > VAS 882 001 - spot-weld breaker  .
   2. 7.2  Remove remaining part of A -pillar reinforcement -1-  in a downward direction -Arrows-  .
