Removing Roof Pillar (Outer Panel)

Information 

Loosen connection points on one side only. Do rot damage the sheet-metal panel underneath.

Information 

Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.

Information 

Mark cuts W, X, Y, Z  in accordance with the new part. Make sure to leave an overlap of approx. 3 cm with respect to the body.

Information 

The front and centre roof cross members overlap the roof pillar. Make a sufficient gap between the components before removing the roof pillar.

  1. Mark and make cuts. > Distance 70 mm  > Distance 120 mm  > Distance 90 mm  > Distance 50 mm

  2. Drill out spotwelds using > VAS 882 001 - spot-weld breaker  .

  3. Heat the marked bonding areas using > V.A.G 1416 - hot-air blower  .

  4. Make a sufficient gap with respect to the roof pillar (outer panel) in area -A-  on the front and centre roof cross members.

  5. Removing roof pillar
