Removing Rubber Mounting For Front Final Drive
Information
Foot pump
- The spindle T10254/5 has a rated load of 9 tonnes and must only be loaded with a pressure of 200 bar.
- Use a protective helmet with a visor.
- Use protective gloves.
- Do not actuate the > VAS 6179 - foot pump pedal - at the same time as the pressure relief valve -Arrow- .
- Connect > VAS 6179/1 - pressure gauge with connecting line and - read off the pressure.
- Remove stone guard -1-
.
- 1.1 Unclip clips -2- .
- 1.2 Remove stone guard -1- .
Stone guard
- Support rear axle housing -1-
.
- 2.1 > VAS 6931 - Engine and gearbox jack must be positioned under the rear axle housing -1- .
- 2.2 Place a suitable piece of wood -2- underneath.
- 2.3 Also secure the rear axle housing -1- with > 9454 - strapping belts .

- Unscrew screws on rear axle housing at the front -1-
by 4 cm.

- Lower the rear axle housing -1-
.
- 4.1 Unscrew screw -2- .
- 4.2 Lower the rear axle housing by 4 cm -1- using > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack .
- 4.3 Press differential -3- up over the cardan shaft.
Rubber mounting for front final drive
- Check that the T10254/5 - spindle
can be inserted through the through-bore in the inside of the rubber mounting for the front final drive.WARNING: Risk of damage or injury from foreign bodies flying around during grinding, drilling and milling
- Risk of eye injuries
- → Wear protective goggles.
- Risk of eye injuries
- If the T10254/5 - spindle cannot be inserted through the through-bore in the inside of the rubber mounting for the front final drive:
Drill out rubber mounting for front final drive -2- .
- 6.1 Place a suitable object between the rubber mounting for front final drive -2- and final drive so as not to damage the threaded bore on the rubber mounting for front final drive.
- 6.2
Position drill -1-
with drill bit on the rubber mounting for front final drive -2-
and drill out the through-bore in several steps.
- Step 1, drill bit diameter: 11 mm
- Step 2, drill bit diameter: 11.5 mm
- Step 3, drill bit diameter: 12 mm

Information
If necessary, the support may have to be screwed out and the support T10205/13 with the small internal diameter from the > VAS 6178 - Hydraulic cylinder may have to be screwed in instead.

You will need a second mechanic to help you with this step.
- > T10254 - Assembly fixture
must be fitted.
- 7.1 Fit T10254/5 - spindle -8- with pin facing downwards into rubber mounting for front final drive.
- 7.2 Fit T40186/1 - pressure piece -2- on rubber mounting for front final drive.
- 7.3 Screw on T10254/4 - nut -1- .

WARNING: Hold the hydraulic cylinder -VAS 6178- tightly while pressing out components.- The rubber mounting suddenly becomes loose. Danger of injury if the tools fall down.
Information
When removing and pressing in the differential bearing, make sure that T10254/5 - spindle is not touching the threaded bore of the differential or adjacent components.

must be fitted on rubber mounting for front final drive. Then, press out rubber mounting for front final drive.

Mountings that have been pressed out must not be re-used.
