- Both joints (on transmission and wheel side) can be replaced on the front axle.
- The entire drive shaft must be replaced if the profile shaft of the joint pin is defective.
- Remove the outer flat joiner on the inner drive shaft boot using > V. A. G 1682A - clamp tensioner
and use a suitable tool for support if necessary. > Flat joiner for tripod, outer

- Remove inner flat joiner on the inner drive shaft boot. > Flat joiner for tripod, inner

- Remove the outer/inner flat joiners from the outer drive shaft boot. > Removing bellows

- 5.1 Pull outer drive shaft boot off the joint pin.
- Clamp the drive shaft (use aluminium protective jaws). Position an aluminium mandrel on the ball hub of the joint (on the wheel side) (star-shaped inner ring) -Arrow-
and remove the joint (on the wheel side) by hitting it several times with a hammer.
