Checking Disc Wheels

Maximum permissible radial runout and lateral runout of the wheel with tyre = 1.25 mm. Values less than 1.0 mm - around 0.5 mm would be better - are desirable. For this purpose, match the tyre (turn the tyre on the rim if necessary).

Tyre gauge
- Straightening and welding work cannot be performed on light alloy wheels.
- The work is carried out initially with the wheel mounted on the vehicle.
- To measure wheels with tyres and wheels without tyres, use a tyre gauge, e.g. > V.A.G 1435 - Tyre Gauge , see Workshop Equipment Manual, Chapter 3.4.2.

If in isolated cases further measurements are necessary, carry out the following procedure.
- To measure wheels without tyres, remove the wheel from the vehicle.
- Remove the tyre from the alloy wheel.
- Clamp the wheel on the balancing machine and take measurements at the points -a- .
