Calibrating Surround View Camera

NOTIFICATION 

Voltage drop 

• Irreparable damage to control unit 
• Damage to control unit 
• Fault entries in the control unit 
• Control unit programming/coding is aborted 
• Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming 
  1. → Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.
  2. → Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.
  3. → Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A  to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester. 

The Surround View camera must be re-calibrated in the following situations:

• When removing and installing or replacing the reversing camera.
• When removing and installing or replacing the front camera.
• When removing and installing or replacing the side camera.
• When removing and installing or replacing control unit for reversing camera.
• When replacing the Surround View camera control unit
• When lowering the chassis.

1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
2. Select the vehicle type if required.
3. Select the Reversing camera/Surround View  control unit in the overview.  Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
4. Maintenance/repairs  must now be selected.
5. Calibration  must be selected. Press F12 to continue.
6. Read and follow the instructions on the Tester.
7. Start the calibration process by pressing F8. The vehicle must not be moved and the plastic mats must not be covered.
8. The Tester confirms that calibration was completed successfully  . Press F12 to continue.
9. Check the function and image quality of the surround view camera.
10. Read out the fault memory, correct faults that are stored if necessary and clear the fault memory.
11. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
