Removing Air-Spring Strut Front

Information 

• Air spring modules can be replaced individually, irrespective of mileage and age.
• No service life restriction!

Information 

Upper trailing arms are disconnected after removing the shock absorber fork from the wheel bearing housing.

1. Fit screws for upper trailing arm -1-  .

   Mounting for upper trailing arm

   1. 1.1 Raise the lifting equipment. 
   2. 1.2 Insert guide pins for upper trailing arms -1- into the wheel bearing housing. 
   3. 1.3 Insert screw -2- and screw on nut by several turns. 
2. Expose external power connection -1- until the screws for the air-spring strut are accessible.

   1. 2.1 Release electric plug connection -1- and disconnect it.

   2. 2.2  Open cover on external power connection -1-  .
   3. 2.3  Unscrew fastening nut -2-  and remove wire harness from battery to starter -3-  from external power connection.

   4. 2.4  Remove housing for external power connection and set it aside.

      1. 2.4.1  Unscrew screws -2-  .
      CAUTION: Escaping residual air 

      • Risk of eye injuries 

        → Wear protective goggles.

      Information 

      The cutting ring and Voss threaded joint -2-  must remain on the air line -3-  .

3. Disconnect lines on the air-spring strut.

   1. 3.1  Release electric plug connections -1-  and disconnect them.
   2. 3.2  Slowly unscrew Voss threaded joint on air line -2-  and counter at the residual pressure retaining valve at the same time (the pressure retaining valve must not loosen!). Disconnect air line.
   3. 3.3  Loosen electric line from holders
4. Remove air-spring strut from the body.

   1. 4.1  Pull cap -1-  off the air-spring strut.
   2. 4.2  Release electric plug connection -1-  and disconnect it.

   3. 4.3  Get another person to help by holding the air-spring strut.
   4. 4.4  Unscrew screws -2-  .
   5. 4.5  Remove air-spring strut by pulling it forward > Air-spring strut.
