Installing Additional Air Conditioner

Information 

Before re-installing the additional air conditioner, always check the following points:

• Check the water drain hose for any cracks, deformities and other damage. 
• Wet the O-rings of the refrigerant lines with refrigerant oil. 

1. Clean bonding surfaces on holder for refrigerant lines on the body and additional air conditioner.
2. Check fastening elements -1-  and rubber sleeves -2-  for damage and check that they are fitted correctly

3. Install additional air conditioner -1-  .

   Additional air conditioner

   1. 3.1  Fit additional air conditioner -1-  into the front air duct -2-  (-arrow A-  ).
   2. 3.2  Fit additional air conditioner -1-  at the rear into the rear air duct -3-  and engage it in the fastening elements on the tunnel -arrow B-  .
4. Secure electric line for additional air conditioner at the right.
   1. 4.1  Connect and lock electric plug connection -1-  .
   2. 4.2  Clip in clips -2-  .

5. Install insulating mat -1-  .

6. Connect and lock electric plug connections -2-  for rear temperature sensors -1-  .

7. Secure refrigerant lines for additional air conditioner -1 and 2-  .

   1. 7.1  Replace sealing rings on refrigerant lines for additional air conditioner.
   2. 7.2  Position refrigerant lines for additional air conditioner -1 and 2-  .
   3. 7.3  Position new  holder for refrigerant lines for additional air conditioner -6-  .
   4. 7.4  Screw on and tighten nut on holder for refrigerant lines for additional air conditioner -5-  .

      > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.6 ftlb.) 

   5. 7.5  Screw on and tighten nuts on holder -4-  .

      > Tightening torque 2.5 Nm (1.8 ftlb.) 

8. Secure heat protection on tunnel -1-  .

   1. 8.1  Position heat protection on tunnel -1-  .
   2. 8.2  Position holder -3-  and secure clamping washers -2-  .
9. Secure coolant hoses on additional air conditioner -1-  .

   1. 9.1  Position and connect coolant hoses on additional air conditioner -1-  .
   2. 9.2  Fasten spring band clamp -3-  using ≥ VAS 6891 - spring band clamp pliers  .
   3. 9.3  Screw on and tighten nuts -2-  .

      > Tightening torque 5 Nm (3.7 ftlb.) 

   4. 9.4  Remove ≥ 3094 - hose clamps  .
10. Install heat protection for side of tunnel at the rear -1-  .

    1. 10.1  Position heat protection for side of tunnel at the rear -1-  .
    2. 10.2  Screw on and tighten nuts -2-  .

       > Tightening torque 2.5 Nm (1.75 ftlb.) 

11. Install heat protection for side of tunnel at the front -1-  .

    1. 11.1  Position heat protection on side of tunnel at the front -1-  .
    2. 11.2  Screw on and tighten nuts -2-  .

       > Tightening torque 2.5 Nm (1.75 ftlb.) 

12. Install heat shield on rear cardan shaft -1-  .

    1. 12.1  Position heat shield on rear cardan shaft -1-. 
    2. 12.2  Screw on and tighten nuts -2-. 

       > Tightening torque 2.1 Nm (1.5 ftlb.) 

13. Install rear underbody cover at the centre -3-  .

    1. 13.1  Position rear underbody cover at the centre -3-  .
    2. 13.2  Install expansion rivets -1-  .
    3. 13.3  Fit and tighten screws -4-  .

       > Tightening torque 3 Nm (2.2 ftlb.) 

    4. 13.4  Screw on and tighten nut -2-  .

       > Tightening torque 2 Nm (1.5 ftlb.)
