Checking Engine-Oil Level Using Oil Dipstick
Information
Generally, the engine-oil level should be checked using the oil level display in the instrument cluster. If the oil level display is not available, check the oil level using special tool T40178.
Information
Prerequisites for checking the engine oil level:
- Vehicle is level,
- engine at operating temperature,
- start the engine and leave it running at idle speed for one minute and then stop it,
- Check the engine oil level when the engine has been stopped for two minutes.
> T40178B - Oil gauge tester-1- must be adjusted. Read the relevant values from the table.

Position adjusting ring -2- according to the value in the table.
The adjustment value is read off on the lower end of the adjusting ring -4- !

Check engine-oil level.
Remove stopper -1- from guide for oil dipstick using > 3438 - hook .
Inspection opening for engine oil!
> T40178B - Oil gauge tester must be pushed as far as it will go (adjusting ring) into the oil dipstick guide, then pull it out again.
Read off the engine-oil level on the oil level scale.

Insert stopper into the oil dipstick guide.
Correct the oil level if necessary.
