Removing Roof Trim Panel

Make sure that the roof cover does not buckle.
Information
- Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle or a similar component.
- Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well.
- Open the cover -1-
and unscrew screw -2-

Cover
- Unclip headliner.
Headliner
- 2.1 > VAS 6427 - Release pliers -3- must be inserted into the openings -2- on the clip. This actuates the tabs -1- on the clip and moves them inwards.
- Unclip electric lines -1-

- Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-

- Move front seats all the way forward and down and move backrests back fully.
- Fold over rear seat.
Information
When removing the headliner, make sure to use a suitable tool as a support when unclipping it in the panoramic roof area.
- For vehicles with panoramic roof (3FU):
Unclip headliner -1- from retaining clips -2- in the panoramic roof cut-out area.

- Press clip -1-
together using two screwdrivers -Arrows-
and detach rear headliner from the body.
Headliner on body
- Three people are needed in order to remove the headliner.
- 9.1 Position of 1st person: Driver's side.
- 9.2 Position of 2nd person: Passenger's side.
- 9.3 Position of 3rd person: Luggage compartment.
- Remove headliner -1-

Headliner
- 10.1 Lower the headliner -1- on the passenger's side as far as possible.
- 10.2 Pull the headliner -1- out towards the rear through the cut-out in the tailgate.
