Install The Front Wheel Bearing

Wheel bearing unit

• The wheel bearing has a magnetized multiple seal, which acts as a pulse sender for the wheel speed sensor. 
• The multiple seal -1- must always face upwards when the wheel bearing is set down (this does not apply when pressing the wheel hub into the wheel bearing). Do not damage the multiple seal and do not let it come into contact with magnetic objects (e.g. magnetized screwdriver or magnet). 

1. Press the wheel hub into the wheel bearing.

   1	Plunger
   2	> VW402 - Pressure plate
   3	Wheel hub
   4	Wheel bearing
   5	> VW401 - Pressure plate

   1. 1.1 Fit special tools as shown in > Wheel hub in wheel bearing  .
   2. 1.2 Press the wheel hub into the wheel bearing.
2. Insert wheel bearing unit into the wheel bearing housing.
3. Tighten fastening screws on the wheel bearing unit. > Initial tightening 80 Nm (59 ftlb.)  > Final tightening + 90°
