Assembling Drive Shaft

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:
    1. 1.1 Fit new bellows on the drive shaft.
    2. 1.2 Replace circlips.
    3. 1.3 Fit the joint at the wheel side as far as it will go onto the drive shaft using a rubber hammer.

      Information 

      Do not position brass mandrel on the 3 rollers of the joint!

    4. 1.4 Fit the joint at the transmission side as far as it will go onto the drive shaft using a brass mandrel by tapping gently with a hammer.
    5. 1.5 Apply new grease (Refer to Parts Information) on the joints and bellows.
      Engine type Quantity of grease on joint at the wheel side Quantity of grease on joint at the transmission side 
      V6 (not PHEV)  > Quantity 128g + 10g  > Quantity 130g + 10g 
      R4 PHEV 
      V6 PHEV 
      V8 (not PHEV)       		 > Quantity 194g + 10g  > Quantity 190g + 5g 
      V8 PHEV  > Quantity 252g + 10g  > Quantity 192g + 10g 
    6. 1.6 Fit new hose clamps using > V.A.G 1275A - Hose clip pliers  (position hose clamps at the grooves provided).
