Installing Seat Position Sensor

Information 

The greatest care must be used in the individual work steps for stripping insulation from, crimping, and shrinking/insulating the electric lines.

The procedure for stripping insulation from, crimping, and shrinking/insulating the electric lines must be complied with and observed. The procedures are described in detail in the > VAS 1978/35-20 - Release Tool Set  .

Crimping samples must be prepared before beginning work.

1. Crimp seat position sensor onto the wire harness. > VAS 1978/35-20 - Release tool set 
2. Insulate crimp points with shrink-fit hose.
3. Wrap fabric tape around the wire harness in the shrink-fit hose area.
   WARNING: Incorrect handling of safety bolts 

   • Danger of injury 
   • Loss of torque 
     1. → Always use new screws or nuts following removal.
     2. → Comply with instructions for repairs.
     3. → Observe specified tightening torques.
     4. → Carry out a visual inspection of parts used.
4. Position new fastening screw with seat position sensor and tighten to > Tightening torque 1.1 Nm (0.6 ftlb.)  .
5. Clip line bracket -2-  with electric wire harness -1-  onto the seat frame.
