Removing Passenger's Airbag Unit

WARNING: Improper handling of airbag units 
  • Triggering of airbag unit  .
  • System faults can occur  .
    1. → Remove ignition key or remote control (hand-held transmitter) and keep it outside of the transmission range.
    2. → External power supply must be de-energised.
    3. → Disconnect the battery and isolate the ground strap so that all contact with a ground carrier is avoided.
    4. → Wait 1 minute after disconnecting the battery.
    5. → Only pull off connector on the triggering unit after the waiting time has elapsed.
    6. → Keep space in front of the airbag unit free.
    7. → Replace damaged parts.
    8. → Always set airbag units down with the blow-out opening facing upwards.
    9. → Do not place any objects on the airbag units.
    10. → Store airbag units in a safe place.
    11. → Avoid contact with grease, oil, detergents, liquids or similar substances.
    12. → Store airbag units in a cool place. Maximum temperature: 90°C.

Information 

Dispose of replaced and non-ignited airbag and seat-belt pretensioner units in accordance with local legal requirements and transport regulations.

  1. Wait 1 minute after disconnecting the battery.
  2. Remove passenger's airbag unit -1-  .

Passenger's airbag unit

  1. 2.1  Release and unplug electric plug connections -2-  .
  2. 2.2  Unscrew fastening screws -3-  .
  3. 2.3  Remove passenger's airbag unit -1-  .
