Adjusting Front Lid

Information 

• Set gap dimensions on the lids, doors and covers, or accessories in accordance with the gap specifications. 
• Given a clearance in the openings that is too great or too small, the movable body parts or the accessories must be centred accordingly. 
• Ensure that the gaps do not run in a wedge-shaped fashion or do not narrow at local points. 
• You can use > VAS 6936 - Adjusting gauge , > VAS 6937 - Adjusting gauge , > VAS 6938 - Adjusting gauge for this. 
• The given values are guidelines, which should be observed as far as possible. 
• The guidelines apply to repair and assembly work. 

1. Adjust the front lid in XY direction.
   1. 1.1 Loosen fastening nuts -1-  on upper parts of lock -2-  and tighten hand-tight.

      Lock upper part

   2. 1.2 Loosen fastening nuts -1-  on front lid hinges at both sides and tighten hand-tight.

      Front lid hinge

   3. 1.3 Close the front lid.
   4. 1.4 Adjust gap dimensions by moving the front lid.

      > Gap dimension 2.9 mm +/- 0.7 mm  > Gap dimension 2.9 mm +/- 1 mm  > Gap dimension 2.9 mm +/- 0.5 mm 

   5. 1.5 Open the front lid.
   6. 1.6 Tighten fastening nuts on upper parts of lock to > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)  .
   7. 1.7 Tighten fastening nuts for front lid hinges to > Tightening torque 24 Nm (18 ftlb.)  .
2. Adjust the front lid in Z direction at upper part of lock -1-  .

   Lock upper part

   1. 2.1 Loosen clip -2-  from upper part of lock -1-Arrow-  .
   2. 2.2 Set gap dimensions by turning the screw -3-  .

      > Gap dimension 1 mm +/- 0.8 mm  > Gap dimension 0.3 mm +/- 0.5 mm 

   3. 2.3 Push clip -2-  into upper part of lock -1-  .
   4. 2.4 Close the front lid and check gap dimensions.
3. Adjust the front lid in Z direction at the front lid hinge -2-  .

   Front lid hinge

   Information 

   The screw must only be loosened because otherwise the thread in the front lid hinge will be damaged.

   1. 3.1 Loosen screw -1-  on front lid hinge -2-  and tighten hand-tight.
   2. 3.2 Close the front lid.
   3. 3.3 Adjust gap dimensions by moving the front lid.

      > Gap dimension 0.3 mm +/- 0.5 mm 

   4. 3.4 Open the front lid.
   5. 3.5 Tighten screw -1-  on front lid hinge -2-  .
