Programming Control Unit For Seat Adjustment

NOTE: Voltage drop 
  • Irreparable damage to control unit 
  • Damage to control unit 
  • Fault entries in the control unit 
  • Control unit programming/coding is aborted 
  • Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming/coding 
    1. → Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.
    2. → Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.
    3. → Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A  to the vehicle battery.

Information 

Ensure the consistency of a combination of hardware and software versions 

After performing software updates, always make sure that the target software versions are also actually installed on the control units and that the system is therefore ensured.

This also applies in the case of hardware replacement.

Information 

The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester. 

  1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Select the vehicle type if necessary.
  3. In the Overview,  select the Driver/Passenger seat adjustment  control unit. Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
  4. Select Coding/programming. 
  5. Select Automatic coding.  Press F12 to continue.
    1. 5.1  The tester displays the message: Coding successfully performed.
  6. Select Maintenance/repairs. 

    Information 

    For some equipment variants, standardisation must be performed on both the driver's side and passenger's side.

  7. Select Standardise seat motors.  Press F12 to continue and then press F8 to start.
    1. 7.1  Read and follow the instructions and information on the Tester.
    2. 7.2  The seat automatically moves to various seat positions. When the seat stops moving after a while, press F12 to continue.
  8. Go back to the Overview. 
  9. Read out all fault memories,  process and delete existing faults if necessary.
  10. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
  11. Carry out a function test.
