Removing Rear Seat

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
WARNING: Incorrect handling of airbag units 
  • Triggering of airbag unit. 
  • System faults can occur. 
    1. → Switch off ignition and remove ignition key or remote control (hand-held transmitter).
    2. → A voltage supply (e.g. battery charger) must not be connected to the external power supply/jump-lead starting terminals.
    3. → Disconnect the battery and insulate the ground strap so that all contact with a ground carrier is avoided.
    4. → Wait 1 minute after disconnecting the battery.
    5. → Only pull off connector on the triggering unit after the waiting time has elapsed.
    6. → Make sure that no foreign objects are located in front of the airbag unit during installation.
    7. → Replace damaged parts during removal.
    8. → Always position airbag units so that the blow-out opening is facing upwards, e.g. crest on driver's airbag.
    9. → Do not position anything on the airbag units.
    10. → If removed for an extended period, the airbag units must be stored in a safe place.
    11. → Airbag units must not come into contact with grease, oil, detergents, liquids, or similar substances.
    12. → Do not expose airbag units to temperatures of more than 90°C.
    13. → Do not remove the short-circuit spring on the plug-in contacts.
    14. → Ignition and preparations may only be carried out by skilled staff, supervised by a second responsible person.
    15. → Before disposal, the airbag unit must be rendered harmless by electrical ignition performed in accordance with all precautionary measures, thereby preventing it from being used incorrectly.
  1. Press retaining lugs -2-  down and push caps -1-  forward off the seat frame.

  2. Fold over the carpet -1-  in the electric plug connection area.

  4. Unclip wire harness -2-  from holder -Arrow-  .

    Information 

    The rear seat must be moved all the way forward in order to remove the rear screws.

    The rear seat must be moved all the way back in order to remove the front screws.

  5. Unscrew screws -1-  on the seat frame -2-  .

  6. Fold the backrest forward and remove rear seat by pulling it towards the rear door.
