Installing Cylinder Head Cover - Left Cylinder Bank

Information 

For installation, the crankshaft must be locked in position.

Information 

• Sealant must not get into the threaded bores. 

1. Clean sealing surfaces.
2. Replace seal.
3. Oil the running surfaces of the camshafts.
4. Check that hydraulic tappets and valve levers are fitted correctly.
5. Install cylinder head cover -20-  .

   Cylinder head cover on left cylinder bank

   1. 5.1  Dispose of old cylinder head cover screws -1 to 19-  and have new cylinder head cover screws -1 to 19-  ready.
   2. 5.2  Apply uniform beads of sealant approx. 3.0 mm in diameter all the way around the sealing faces on the cylinder head cover -20-  .

      Install cylinder head cover within 5 minutes of applying the sealant bead.

   3. 5.3  > T40116 - Locating pins  must be inserted through the bores in the cylinder head cover -20-  . Then, fit and screw them in on the cylinder head.
   4. 5.4  Fit cylinder head cover -20-  on > T40116 - locating pins  on the cylinder head.
   5. 5.5 Screw in and tighten new  screws on cylinder head cover -1 to 19-  .

      > Initial tightening 8 Nm (6 ftlb.) 

      > Torque angle + 90° 

6. Connect and lock electric plug connections for camshaft sensors
