Installing Cylinder Head - Left Cylinder Bank

- Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:

Tightening sequence for cylinder head on left cylinder bank
- 1.1 The cylinder-head gasket must be replaced following removal.
- 1.2 The cylinder-head screws must be replaced following removal.
- 1.3 All sealing faces must be clean and free of grease.

Screw in cylinder-head screws as far as they will go by hand and tighten according to the specified tightening sequence.

Tighten screws on the cylinder head -1 to 8-
.
> Initial tightening 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)
- 1.4.2
Tighten screws on the cylinder head -1 to 8-
.
> Tightening torque 50 Nm (37 ftlb.)
- 1.4.3
Tighten screws on the cylinder head -1 to 8-
.
> Torque angle + 90°
- 1.4.4
Tighten screws on the cylinder head -1 to 8-
.
> Final tightening + 90°
- 1.4.5
Tighten screw on the cylinder head -9-
.
> Initial tightening 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
- 1.4.6
Tighten screw on the cylinder head -10-

> Initial tightening 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
- 1.4.7
Tighten screw on the cylinder head -9-

> Torque angle + 90°
- 1.4.8
Tighten screw on the cylinder head -10-

> Torque angle + 90°

Tighten screws on the cylinder head -1 to 8-

Replace and tighten screw on guide rail for left cylinder head.
> Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
- 1.6
Tighten screws on the coolant pipe.
> Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
- 1.7
Tighten screws on the coolant control valve.
> Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
- 1.8
Tighten screw on guide for oil dipstick.
> Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
- 1.9
Tighten screw on the coolant vent line.
> Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
- 1.10 Replace O-ring on turbocharger coolant line.
- 1.11
Screw securing turbocharger coolant line to cylinder head:
V6 monoturbo: > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
V6 biturbo: > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
