Install Camshafts

Positioning camshafts
- 1.1
Insert camshafts -2-
at the required positions into the camshaft bearing frame.
Make sure that the gaps on the plain compression rings -5- are facing up or down, never to the side.
Make sure that the plain bearing -1- is fitted as far as it will go against the cylinder head cover.
Make sure that the thrust washer -6- is inserted.
- 1.2 Make sure that each camshaft bearing cove. -4- is fitted with two tensioning sleeves -3- .

Insert camshafts -2-
at the required positions into the camshaft bearing frame.
- Position camshaft bearing covers -1 to 4-
.
Identification of camshaft bearing covers
- 2.1 Position camshaft bearing covers -1 to 4- according to the marking. > Identification of camshaft bearing covers Make sure that the tensioning sleeves engage in the bores of the cylinder head cover.
- Fit camshaft bearing covers -1 to 4-
.
Camshaft bearing covers
- 3.1 Replace camshaft bearing cover screws -Arrows- .
- 3.2 Fit new
camshaft bearing cover screws -Arrows-
and tighten them.
> Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
- Secure staking tools.
Camshaft clamps
Information
The camshaft clamp must be easy to insert and must not be fitted using a striking tool.
- 4.1 Align camshafts -1- and insert > T40331 - camshaft clamps /1,/4 and/5 with the inscription "A" facing away from the engine.
- 4.2 Secure > T40331 - camshaft clamps /1,/4/5 with > T40331 - camshaft clamps /9 .
- 4.3 > T40331 - Camshaft clamps /9 must be screwed in by hand.
- 4.4 Tighten screws on the camshaft clamps to 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) .
