Removing Pistons

Information 

Do not mark pistons using a mechanical tool!

  1. Mark the allocation of the pistons to the cylinder for re-installation using paint.
  2. Remove piston -3-  .

    Piston and connecting rod on crankshaft

    1. 2.1  Use > T40263 - wrench, 21 mm  and > T40314 - adapter  to turn the crankshaft as far as required until the relevant piston -3-  is accessible.

      Be careful of the timing chain.

    2. 2.2  Unscrew connecting-rod bearing cap screws -1-  and remove connecting-rod bearing cap -2-  .
    3. 2.3  Lift piston -3-  up out of the cylinder bore and remove it.
    4. 2.4  Fit connecting-rod bearing cap -2-  back on the related connecting rod to prevent it from getting mixed up.
