Preliminary Work

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials 
  • Danger of fire or explosion 
    1. → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
    2. → Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.
    3. → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
    4. → Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.
    5. → Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.
WARNING: Toxic substances 
  • Danger of poisoning or suffocation 
  • Danger of burns to the eyes and skin 
    1. → Ventilate the work area well.
    2. → Never ingest or inhale.
    3. → Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.
    4. → Wear personal protective gear.
    5. → Do not smoke, eat or drink in the work area.
  1. Attach or mount a warning sign in a clearly visible position on the vehicle.

    Information 

    • The position of the fuse for the fuel pump can be found in the current Porsche After Sales vehicle electrical system documentation (PAB) fuse assignment. 
    • → PPN → Porsche After Sales vehicle electrical system documentation [PAB] 
  2. Relieve fuel pressure in the system.
    1. 2.1  Pull out the fuse for the fuel pump.
    2. 2.2  Start the engine, wait until it cuts out and then re-insert the fuse.
  3. Disconnect supply line -1-  at connection point in engine compartment.

    1. 3.1  Have suitable aids ready for collecting emerging fuel.
    2. 3.2  Have suitable stoppers ready for closing off the line connections.
    3. 3.3  Release and disconnect quick connector on supply line -2-  in the engine compartment.
    4. 3.4  Collect emerging fuel.
    5. 3.5  Close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
  4. Disconnect vacuum line -1-  from vacuum reservoir.

  5. Disconnect return line -2-  at the engine connection point.

    1. 5.1  Have suitable aids ready for collecting emerging fuel.
    2. 5.2  Have suitable stoppers ready for closing off the line connections.
    3. 5.3  Loosen hose clamp on return line -1-  in the engine compartment.
    4. 5.4  Pull off return line -2-  .
    5. 5.5  Collect emerging fuel.
    6. 5.6  Close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
  6. Disconnect the battery.

  7. Only vehicles with PDK: 

    Disconnect 48-volt vehicle electrical system.

    Refer to the appropriate service information.

  8. Removing air cleaner housing.

    Refer to the appropriate service information.

  9. Remove intake pipe.

  10. Remove torque support.

    Refer to the appropriate service information.

  11. Remove air-cleaner cowl.

    Refer to the appropriate service information.

  12. Only for vehicles with V8: 

    Disconnect refrigerant lines at the air-conditioning compressor.

  13. Only for vehicles with V6: 

    Remove air-conditioning compressor with refrigerant lines connected in a downward direction and hang them at a suitable position.

  14. Remove front-axle support.

  15. Drain coolant.

    > Draining and filling coolant 

  16. Loosen coolant reservoir.

  17. Remove both front wheel housing liners.

    > Removing and installing front wheel housing liner 

  18. Remove exhaust system.

    > Removing and installing exhaust system 

  19. Remove Cardan shaft.

    > Removing and installing Cardan shaft 

  20. Only if automatic transmission is removed following removal: 

    Removing steering gear

    > Removing and installing power-steering gear 

  21. Remove silencer.
