- Install front-axle carrier -1-

Front-axle carrier assembly
- 2.1 Move front-axle carrier -1- into installation position and screw in rear screws on front-axle carrier -2- by hand.
- 2.2 > T40327 - Locating pin
must be unscrewed at the position of screw -3-
, replace it with screw -3-
and tighten screw -3-
.
> Initial tightening torque 115 Nm (84.8 ftlb.)
> Final tightening torque + 90°
- 2.3 Repeat the procedure one after the other in diagonally opposite sequence
for screws -4 to 6-
.
> Initial tightening torque 115 Nm (84.8 ftlb.)
> Final tightening torque + 90°
- 2.4 Tighten rear screws on front-axle carrier -2-
.
> Initial tightening torque 130 Nm (95.9 ftlb.)
> Final tightening torque + 180°
- Tighten screws on transmission support -2-
.
> Tightening torque 55 Nm (41 ftlb.)
Transmission support
- Remove > VAS 6832/8 - universal assembly device
from > VAS 6832 - Master Gear unit elevating platform
and remove > VAS 6832 - Master Gear unit elevating platform
from under the vehicle.

The procedure for removing and installing is described for one side as an example. The procedure for the other side is practically identical.
- Fit screws for chassis.
Threaded joints on chassis
- 5.1 Position upper trailing arm -2- , lower trailing arm and tie rod -4- .
- 5.2 Replace nut on tie-rod ball -3-
and screw and nut securing spring strut to lower trailing arm -5-
.WARNING: Wheel bearing housing raised incorrectly
- Risk of crushing
- Risk of damage to components
- → Wear personal protective gear.
- → Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).
Information
Threaded joints must only be tightened in zero position to prevent warping in the bearings.
- 5.3 Before tightening the trailing arm screws: Lift the wheel suspension to zero position using lifting equipment (e.g. > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack
).

- 5.4 Tighten screw on upper trailing arm -1-
and counter at the nut at the same time.
> Tightening torque 40 Nm (30 ftlb.)
- 5.5 Tighten screw securing spring strut to lower trailing arm -5-
and counter at the nut at the same time.
> Initial tightening 90 Nm (67 ftlb.)
> Final tightening + 90°
- 5.6 Tighten nut securing tie-rod ball to wheel bearing housing -3-
.
> Tightening torque 140 Nm (103.3 ftlb.)
- Secure both front connecting links -1-
.

- 6.1 Replace screws on connecting link -2- and nuts on connecting link.
- 6.2 Tighten screws on connecting link -2-
and counter at the nuts at the same time.
(Only for vehicles with PDCC)
> Initial tightening 60 Nm (44 ftlb.)
> Final tightening + 90°
(Only for vehicles without PDCC)
> Initial tightening 40 Nm (30 ftlb.)
> Final tightening + 90°
- Connect and lock line connection for coolant hose at the radiator -1-

- Secure high-voltage line guide -1-

- 10.3 Tighten nuts on line guide -3-

- Secure clip on high-voltage line for air-conditioning compressor -1-

- Connect high-voltage plug connection to the power electronics unit and air-conditioning compressor.
- 12.1 Connect high-voltage plug connection on power electronics unit and air-conditioning compressor until it engages securely and lock the red locking mechanism.

For loosening/tightening the screws on the drive plate, always counter at the central screw on the vibration damper. The help of another person is required.

- Fit coolant hose -1-
