Installing Charge Air Cooler

Information 

The procedure for removing and installing is described for one side as an example. The procedure for the other side is almost identical.

1. Have suitable stoppers ready for closing off the connections.
2. Only when removing right charge-air cooler: 

   Disconnect electric line from right charge-air cooler.

   1. 2.1  Unclip clip -1-  .
   2. 2.2  Release and disconnect electric plug connection -2-  .
3. Only when removing left charge-air cooler: 

   Disconnect lines from left charge-air cooler.

   1. 3.1  Unclip clips -1-  .
   2. 3.2  Release and disconnect electric plug connection -2-  .
4. Disconnect pressure pipe -1-  .

   1. 4.1  Unscrew screws for charge-air cooler -2-  at the pressure pipe flange -1-  .
5. Disconnect pressure hose -1-  at the bottom.

   1. 5.1  Loosen screw-type clamp -2-  .
   2. 5.2  Pull off pressure hose -1-  .
   3. 5.3  Close off connections with stoppers.
6. Remove charge-air cooler -1-  .

   Threaded joint for charge-air cooler

   1. 6.1  Unscrew screws on charge-air cooler -2-  .
   2. 6.2  Remove charge-air cooler -1-  from holder -3-  .
   3. 6.3  Close off connections with stoppers.

1. Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:
   1. 1.1  Tighten screws securing pressure pipe flange to charge-air cooler.

      > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.) 

   2. 1.2  Tighten screw-type clamps on pressure hoses.

      > Tightening torque 5.5 Nm (4.1 ftlb.) 

   3. 1.3  Tighten screws on charge-air cooler.

      > Tightening torque 4 Nm (3 ftlb.)
