Removing Supply Line - Section From Underbody To Engine

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials

Danger of fire or explosion
- → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
- → Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.
- → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
- → Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.
- → Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.

- → Ventilate the work area well.
- → Never ingest or inhale.
- → Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.
- → Wear personal protective gear.
- → Do not smoke, eat or drink in the work area.

Information

Escaping fuel must be soaked up using suitable binding material.
The fuel system must be depressurized before starting work on it.
Only work on the fuel system in well-ventilated rooms.
Any seals that were removed must always be replaced.
Never use sealant containing silicone or silicone spray when the injection system is open. Traces of silicone drawn in by the engine are not combusted and damage the oxygen sensors.

Information

Plastic lines must not be kinked or bent as this can make them brittle and start to leak.

Have suitable aids ready for collecting emerging fuel.
Have suitable stoppers ready for closing off the line connections.
Remove heat shield for cardan shaft -1- .

Heat shield for cardan shaft
1. 3.1 Unscrew screws -3- and nuts -2- .
2. 3.2 Remove heat shield for cardan shaft -1- .
Loosen heat shield on front right underbody -1- .

Heat shields on right underbody
1. 4.1 Unscrew nuts -2- .
2. 4.2 Lift up heat shield on front underbody -1- as far as required until the heat shield on the rear underbody -3- and the supply line are accessible.
3. 4.3 Remove heat shield on rear right underbody -3- .
Remove supply line -1- from sound absorber -2- .

Disconnect section of supply line -1- at the underbody.

Supply line - connection point at underbody
1. 6.1 Release and disconnect quick connector for supply line -2- at the underbody.
2. 6.2 Collect escaping fuel.
3. 6.3 Close off line connections with stoppers.
Remove trim panel -1- in front right wheel housing.

1. 7.1 Unscrew nuts -2- .
2. 7.2 Remove the cover -1- .
Disconnect section of supply line -1- in the engine compartment.

Supply line - connection point in engine compartment
1. 8.1 Release and disconnect quick connector on supply line -2- in the engine compartment.
2. 8.2 Collect escaping fuel.
3. 8.3 Close off line connections with stoppers.
4. 8.4 Open line bracket -3- in the engine compartment and remove supply line.
Disconnect supply line -1- in the wheel housing.

1. 9.1 Remove supply line -1- from retaining rubbers -2- .
2. 9.2 Open line bracket for supply line -3- in the wheel housing and remove supply line -1- .
