Removing Cylinder Head

NOTIFICATION 

Dirt and contamination 

• Risk of damage to units or components 
  • → Protect components from dirt and contamination.
  • → Clean or replace dirty components.

1. Remove coolant lines -2 and 5-  .

   Coolant lines

   1. 1.1  Unscrew screws -1-  and remove coolant line -2-  .
   2. 1.2  Unscrew screw -3-  and nut -4-  and remove coolant line -5-  .
2. Disconnect vent line -1-  from the relevant cylinder head.

   Vent line

   1. 2.1  Unscrew screw -2-  .
   2. 2.2  Disconnect vent line
3. Only for removing cylinder head on cylinder bank 1:  Remove collar axle for guide rail -1-  and chain tensioner -3-  .

   Chain tensioner on cylinder bank 1

   1. 3.1  Unscrew collar axle -1-  .
   2. 3.2  Unscrew screws -2-  and remove chain tensioner -3-  .
4. Only for removing cylinder head on cylinder bank 2:  Remove chain tensioner -3-  and loosen guide rail.

   1. 4.1  Unscrew screw -1-  .
   2. 4.2  Unscrew screws -2-  and remove chain tensioner -3-  .
5. Unscrew cylinder-head screws in the sequence -11 to 1-  .

6. Remove cylinder head -1-  .

   Cylinder head

   1. 6.1  Remove cylinder head -1-Arrow-  .
   2. 6.2  Remove and dispose of old cylinder-head gasket -2-  .
   3. 6.3  Remove dowel sleeves -3-  .
   4. 6.4  Carefully clean the sealing faces.
