Installing bypass flap control box
> 216719 REMOVING AND INSTALLING BYPASS FLAP CONTROL BOX (V8 BITURBO)
Install valve lifter (hydraulic tappet) and valve lever.
> 155920 REMOVING AND INSTALLING THE VALVE LIFTER (HYDRAULIC TAPPET) - "Installing".
Install cylinder head cover.
> 158219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CYLINDER HEAD COVER - on "Installing".
Only cylinder bank 2:
Install guide for oil dipstick.
Only cylinder bank 2:
Install intake hall sender.

> 283919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING HALL SENDERS (V8 BITURBO) - on "Installing"
Only cylinder bank 2:
Install brake booster vacuum pump.

> 477619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM PUMP (V8 BITURBO) - "Installing"

Install camshaft actuator.

7.2 Set valve timing information:

Turn crankshaft vibration damper -1- on the staking bore -2- and secure the crankshaft.

7.3 Set valve timing information:

Unscrew plug -1- and secure the crankshaft with > T40069 - locking pin-2- .

7.4 After the adjustment process remove > T40069 - locking pin-2- and tighten screw plug -1- with a new O-ring.
Tightening torque, oiled: > Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)

Tightening torque, dry: > Tightening torque 25 Nm (19 ftlb.)

Install upper chain housing cover.
> 153319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING UPPER CHAIN HOUSING COVER (V8 BITURBO) - "Installing"
1. 8.1 Install supply line - section from engine to high-pressure pumps.
  > 203819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SUPPLY LINE (V8 BITURBO)
Install fuel injectors.
> 244019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING INJECTOR VALVE (INJECTOR) - on "Installing"
Install solenoid hydraulic valve for valve lift adjustment.
> 155519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SOLENOID HYDRAULIC VALVE FOR VALVE LIFT ADJUSTMENT (V8 BITURBO) - "Installing"

Installing high-pressure pump.

11.1 Insert tappets -1- using a magnet.

Install heat shields at the left and right -1- on the cylinder head.

1. 12.1 Place heat shields -1- in installation position.
2. 12.2 Tighten screws -2- .
3. 12.3 Tighten screws -3- on the engine eyelet.
  Tightening torque: > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
Install fuel collection pipe.
> 243019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FUEL COLLECTION PIPE (V8 BITURBO) - "Installing"
Install fuel line (high-pressure pump to rail).
> 249019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FUEL LINE (V8 BITURBO) - "Installing"
Install catalytic converter.
> 267319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING PRIMARY CATALYTIC CONVERTER (V8 BITURBO) - on "Installing"
Install spark plugs.
> 287020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SPARK PLUGS - on "Installing"
Install spark plugs.
> 282020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING IGNITION COILS (V8 BITURBO) - "Installing"
Install tank vent valve with lines.
> 202319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TANK VENT VALVE (V8 BITURBO) - "Installing"
Install oil separator.
> 105519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OIL SEPARATOR (V8 BITURBO) - "Installing"
Clip in engine wire harness at the relevant points and connect cable plugs.
> 975219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE WIRE HARNESS
Install engine with transmission.
