Information 

The guide plate VAS 5161A/38 must be modified for cylinders 4 and cylinder 8.

To do this, screw two M8 screws into the guide plate VAS 5161A/38 as shown.

The screws must project by max. 5 mm  at the bottom.

The projection of the screws is fitted at the oil ducts.

The next steps are described in the appropriate service information.

The screws in the guide plate VAS 5161A/38 can remain fitted for working on the other cylinders.

Information 

On cylinders 4 and 8, the guide plate VAS 5161A/38 can -1-  only be secured -2-  to the cylinder head with a screw.

Information 

In the > VAS 5161A/38 - guide plate-1-  there are four bore holes -A, B, C, D-  for mounting on the cylinder head.

Depending on the installation situation, observe the use of the bores and secure the > VAS 5161A/38 - guide plate  with the supplied screws, M5x40 -2-  .

Information 

For the exhaust side valve, attach the > VAS 5161A - valve keeper  tool as shown.

1. If the valve keys were removed from the assembly cartridge, they must first be inserted into the insertion device VAS 5161/18 -1-  from the tool kit > VAS 5161A - Removal and installation device for valve keys  .
   1. 1.1  Insert valve keys into the insertion device VAS 5161/18. 
      1. 1.1.1  The large diameter of the valve keys must be facing upwards.
   2. 1.2  Press assembly cartridge VAS 5161/8  onto the valve keys from above and pick up the valve keys.
