Installing Upper Chain Housing Cover

Information 

Fitting and sealing components using liquid sealant. 

• Sealing faces must be cleaned to remove all residual sealant. 
• Sealing faces must be free of grease and oil. 
• Use the following for cleaning the sealing faces: Primer Loctite 7515. 
• Use the following sealant: Loctite 5970-BM. 

1. Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:

   Information 

   The chain housing cover must be installed within five minutes of applying the liquid sealant.

   1. 1.1  Apply liquid sealant Loctite 5970-BM  on the chain housing cover.
   2. 1.2  Tighten screws on upper chain housing cover.

      > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) 

   3. 1.3 Only for cylinder bank 1: 
      1. 1.3.1  Tighten double-screws on additional coolant pump holder.

         > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) 

      2. 1.3.2  Tighten nuts on additional coolant pump holder.

         > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) 

      3. 1.3.3  Tighten nuts securing line bracket to chain housing cover.

         > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) 

      4. 1.3.4  Tighten screw for coolant pipe.

         > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) 

   4. 1.4 Only for cylinder bank 2: 
      1. 1.4.1  Tighten screws on chain housing cover holder.

         > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
